An image of text is not text

It is the single most common wrong turn here, and it only becomes obvious later, when someone tries to search the file.

Exporting a page as PNG gives you something that looks like the document and behaves like a photograph. Nothing in it can be copied, searched, translated or read aloud. If any of those matter, the export was the wrong tool.

Plain text goes the other way: the words come out with no layout at all. Ugly, searchable, and exactly right when the words are the point.
